Our Oceans, Our Future is the overall theme for World Oceans Day 2017. Join us and the rest of the world to celebrate our environment and oceans.
The desert and the ocean? Yes! The Gulf of California (Sea of Cortez) is part of the Sonoran Desert, which plays a role in regulating our climate and provides seafood for people around the world.
The goal of World Oceans Day is to help, protect, and conserve the world’s oceans. Let’s work together to reduce our use of plastic, support green energy, use less water, reduce waste, and buy local.
Here are a few reasons why you should come to World Oceans Night! (Cool Summer Nights) at the Desert Museum from 5pm-10pm this Saturday.
Free Food? Yes, Please! Enjoy sustainable seafood tastings from Hotel Congress, Maynards, Fini’s Landing, Penca, Primo Tucson, and Rojo Hospitality Group.

Do you like to drink for a cause? Then don’t miss, “Margaritas for Vaquitas.” This year, Rojo Hospitality Group will be donating a percentage of the proceeds to Vaquita CPR. Interested in donating to vaquita conservation? You can give here. There are only 30 vaquitas left in the wild, so let’s help save this awesome species!

Want to protect the environment? Learn about the biodiversity of the marine environment and how to protect it with Biosphere 2, The University of Arizona, Desert Dolphins, Marine Awareness and Conservation Society, The Dive Shop, The Fin Foundation, and CEDO!

Does walking make you hungry? Make sure you stop by Ironwood Terraces Restaurant, The Cottonwood, Ocotillo Cafe, and Phoebe’s Coffee Bar! Delicious food and cold drinks (including beer and wine) will be available for purchase!

Does blue compliment your eyes? It does on World Oceans Night! Please wear blue in honor of World Oceans Day!
The Desert Museum cares about the environment and climate change. So how can you help? Inform yourself about the dangers the ocean and its animals face. Help keep our surroundings and oceans clean. Spread the positive impact World Oceans Day brings and participate in the Desert Museum’s celebration this Saturday. Let’s strive for a better future!
